Hi, I’m Ninna (pronounced nin-nuh)

I’m an audio producer, story editor, educator, and journalist based in San Francisco. Today, I co-direct Uncuffed, the award-winning radio training program and podcast created by incarcerated people in California prisons in collaboration with KALW Public Media.

At Uncuffed, I help guide our editorial vision and lead our training programs — from developing and teaching storytelling workshops inside prisons to supporting the continued growth of our newsroom on both sides of the wall. I collaborate closely with producers inside and out to support system-impacted people in telling their own stories, building skills, and expanding their creative opportunities.

Since 2012, I’ve worked as a reporter, editor, and producer across public media and the podcast world, with pieces airing on NPR, 99% Invisible, Snap Judgment, and other national outlets. I’ve edited podcasts including Get WIRED, Travel Tales, and KALW’s Crosscurrents, and I’ve collaborated on original and branded projects with partners like Patagonia, Dropbox, and EPIC Magazine.

Teaching has always been at the heart of my work. I spent three years as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco. I’ve also led audio production workshops for middle schoolers, high school students, and audio producers across the globe.
