Producing

I’ve produced everything from sold-out live storytelling events to interactive audio tours to investigative series. Here’s a smorgasbord of some of the things I’ve produced behind the scenes over the years.

Outbreak at San Quentin - SNap Judgement

As the Coronavirus outbreak overwhelms San Quentin State Prison, one incarcerated person, Chanthon Bun, is awaiting his release on parole. Bun tries to protect himself from the virus, while incarcerated first responders and cleaning crews attempt to treat those who are collapsing and stop the spread of COVID-19. In this episode, we hear first-hand accounts from incarcerated people inside San Quentin trying to survive the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

At the time of this recording, 13 people from San Quentin have died due to coronavirus, bringing the total number of lives lost in California prisons to 40. Our hearts go out to them and theirs, sincerely.

Sights and Sounds live storytelling eventS

The Sights and Sounds project was a series of live storytelling events around the Bay Area. Radio producers and photographers documented the stories in sound and imagery, and we invited local artists, musicians, and food purveyors to join in a celebration of community.

I oversaw and produced several events over the years in both Bayview and East Oakland.

Audiograph’s Sound of the week - lost landscapes

This auditory guessing game is part of  Audiograph, a crowd-sourced collaborative radio project mapping the Bay Area’s sonic signature. Audiograph  tells the story of where you live, and the people who live there with you. I directed and ran this project for two years, creating multiple pieces and sourcing and editing others.

Musician Thao Nguyen on her movie tribute to her mother, "Nobody Dies"

For several years I was the producer on a weekly program highlighting arts and culture around the Bay Area. Here’s one piece I particularly enjoyed working on.
